Judges Lists Criteria

The Leonberger Club of GB Judges List Criteria 2019 onwards

 

NB:- These criteria to apply to all relevant Lists:-

1. All people to meet the criteria of a lower list before moving on to a higher list.

2. Everyone to provide a critique following judging (under normal circumstances) that demonstrates an

understanding of the breed.

3. For inclusion in A or B Lists, to have been observed judging by a representative of the Club and a

satisfactory report received.

4. All judges for Championship shows and Breed Club Shows are asked to forward a copy of their critique

to the Club.

5. Requirements all to apply except under exceptional circumstances.

6. The lists will be regularly reviewed and updated annually.

**NB** 4 months must elapse between judging appointments or at least 75 miles in distance from the

previous appointment, unless it is outside the time scale. When invited to judge, all judges must also

comply with the criteria of the host club.

 

The online Judges Competency Framework system is due to go live in the second half of 2019. To help show societies, the requirement that all judges must be licensed at JCF Level 1 will now be introduced from 1 January 2020.

 

A1 List

For persons who have previously been approved by the KC to award CCs in the breed and have

completed their first appointment and have the support of the LCGB.

If you give CCs in a breed you must sign up for the JCF / get a licence and can apply

for Level 4 in those breeds you are passed for.

 

A2 List

For persons who fulfil all the requirements of the A3 List and who have been assessed in accordance with

KC requirements and accepted by the KC for inclusion on an A2 List and have the support of the LCGB.

Will become Level 4 judges from 01/01/2020.

 

A3 List ( Breed Specialists )

Judges who the LCGB would support to award CCs in the breed .

To meet all the criteria for the Judges Competency Framework for Level 3 from 01/01/2020

· To have attended a Seminar given by a KC accredited trainer on KC regulations & judging procedure and

passed the relevant exam within the last 5 years

· To have attended at least 1 Breed specific seminar run in accordance with the relevant KC code of best

practice and passed an assessment .

· To have a minimum of 7 years judging experience in this breed and have the support of the LCGB.

· To have judged a minimum of 70 dogs in this breed.

· To have bred and/or owned a minimum of 3 dogs when they obtained their 1st entry in the KC Stud

Book. (save in exceptional circumstances)

 

A3 List ( Non Breed Specialists )

To meet all the criteria for the Judges Competency Framework for Level 3 from 01/01/2020

· To have attended a Seminar given by a KC accredited trainer on KC regulations & judging procedure and

passed the relevant exam within the last 5 years

· To have attended at least 1 Breed specific seminar run in accordance with the relevant KC code of best

practice and passed an assessment .

· To have a minimum of 5 years judging experience in this breed and have the support of the LCGB.

· To have judged a minimum of 70 dogs in this breed.

· To have bred and/or owned a minimum of 3 dogs when they obtained their 1st entry in the KC Stud

Book. (save in exceptional circumstances)

 

 

 

To attain JCF Level 3 Judge from 01/01/2020

1. Undertake three mentoring sessions within the breed

2. Have one approved observations of judging with a meaningful entry present.

3. Have bred and or owned a minimum of 3 dogs when the obtained their first entry in the KC Stud book

– save for exceptional circumstances. (This is a one-time qualification)

4. Attended the appropriate sub-group Field Trial event for gundog breeds

or Ring Procedure at licensed shows (German Shepherd Dog) online exam

5. Refresh Requirements of a Dog Show Judge exam every 5 years

6. Pass the Kennel Club ‘Eye for a Dog’ assessment

Attend a Breed Competence Assessment for the specific breed to progress to level 4

Refresh Requirements of a Dog Show Judge exam every 5 years

 

B List ( All Judges)

· To have had an active interest in Leonbergers for a minimum of 5 years and have the support of the

LCGB.

· To have judged Leonbergers at least 3 times over 3 years

· To have undertaken 6 days of stewarding appointments

· Attended a Kennel Club Requirements of a Dog Show Judge seminar and examination in the last 5 years.

· Passed the Kennel Club Points of a Dog assessment

· Attended a Kennel Club Conformation and Movement seminar

· To have attended at least 1 Breed specific seminar run in accordance with the relevant KC code of best

practice and passed an assessment.

 

and JCF Level 2 from 01/01/2020

· Must meet all the criteria for Level 1 as below and meet these level 2 criteria as of

· To attain Level 2 Judge (Breed Specific) you must:

· 1. Attend an official Breed Appreciation Day for the breed you wish to judge

· 2. Pass the Multiple-choice Breed Standard Exam

· 3. Refresh Requirements of a Dog Show Judge exam every 5 years

 

C List (· For aspirant judges who have shown an interest in the breed and have the support of the LCGB)

 

ALL JUDGES Must be at least JCF level 1 from 1st January 2020

· To progress to a JCF Level 1 Judge you need to have:

· 1. A proven interest of a minimum of 5 years in one or more aspects of the breeding and exhibiting of

pedigree dogs (including exhibiting/breeding/stewarding/show administration)

· 2. Undertaken 6 days of stewarding appointments

· 3. Attended a Kennel Club Requirements of a Dog Show Judge seminar and examination in the last 5 years.

· 4. Passed the Kennel Club Points of a Dog assessment

· 5. Attended a Kennel Club Conformation and Movement seminar

· 6. Complete and pass Kennel Club Academy online critique seminar
